For my 5th GIU Day....I wanted to give you a glimpse of my weekend...
I started this week, briefly talking about a challenge I play along in weekly. It's been 2 years now, almost to the day...when I decided to tune in to what I'd been hearing a lot of buzz on the street about... I had a Facebook friend, one I had met at the one and only retreat I'd ever been to, tag me in to this challenge she occasionally participated in. Every time she tagged me, I really didn't pay much attention to it... At the time, I was struggling with hard emotions, and I knew I needed to find something to send some positive energy to my well being. That's when I decided to hit the link she'd been tagging me in, and I was introduced to.....
CRAFT ROULETTE!!!!!
Oh my gosh....what a game changer it has been for me. I have used supplies I never dreamed I'd ever use...I've tried different card types, like z-folds, zoy-folds, cards with pockets, cards with bookmarks, book binding cards, tri-folds, etc....this last challenge was a MATCHBOOK card, I'm pretty sure I've never made one of those before... How it works is... the mom/son team who dreamed this all up, goes live on YouTube, every Friday late afternoon for me (4:30 Pacific Time) and runs a program which includes a slideshow, guest designer, a recap of the previous week, along with live card creation using the parameters that a Craft Roulette Wheel lands on.... There are 4 criteria:
1. Project
2. Colors
3. Element
4. Random
There are 24 potentials for each parameter...so...lots and lots of possibilities!
I find the 2 hours to be full of entertainment. I've seen some fabulous guests, and I've designed things that my brain would NEVER have come up with otherwise!!!
Unity Stamps are PERFECT for Craft Roulette nights... Pooh and Friends, Angie Girls & Phyllis Harris stamps have been super favorites I've used, I even dabbled in a scrapbook page or 2 using the perfect Unity Stamps via Craft Roulette. You have a couple of days to submit your card, and if you do...you are eligible to win a prize the following Friday. After the matter...I journal it all in my Creative Companion, which highlights the week...it's my personal journal/card diary, so...scribbles, crooked lines, bad handwriting...it all works for me, and I have a fun journal book to peruse through when I get in a creative slump, or just want to reflect!
To analyze my 78th Craft Roulette contribution, Episode #271
- Project/Matchbook Card: I did an upside down matchbook card, where the front panel tucks under the lip of the top, like a matchbook
- Colors/Park: I used the colors you would see at Bahai Honda State Park
- Element/Key(s): Bahai Honda State Park is in the Florida Keys
- Random/Curved & Straight: The waves are curves, the sand is curved...the pole to umbrella is straight!
I could go on and on about how much Craft Roulette has changed my way of approaching my card making. I'm much faster at things now, and I find it much easier to come up with unique ideas!
Some of my favorite Craft Roulette creations came from Unity Stamps, and I'm sharing my journal book pages of them here! I'm at 78 entries now...at 100 I'll need a new book!

Supplies used:
Stamp Set: Live in the Sunshine (Beach Scene)
Stamp Set: "Other Side of Fear" (Retired)(for the little sailboat)

***NOTE: I don't always make it at the start of the show...in fact RARELY do I make it when it actually starts...So, I pick it up on YouTube after the live. That's OK for me, I will find myself pulling up parameters if I'm remote, it's an addicting challenge, but what a good thing to be addicted to, right?
Well, what a week it's been! I enjoyed being a GIU guest as much this time, as I did before! I hope you enjoyed your week, and pop by every now and then! You will see lots of Craft Roulette cards, of which big portion of them, are with Unity Stamps!
Leave comments!!! And THANKS for stopping by this week! I enjoyed reading your comments! This really is a wonderful thing, paper crafting in UNITY!!!

Wow! Your beach scene card is beautiful. I like that you use the craft roulette video (I’ll have to check it out) and then record your cards in your book. You have made some beautiful creations to inspire this week. Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun event! Your card is beautiful!

That is an interesting concept. I have never heard of craft roulette! I must watch a video as well! I love your card. I find it hard to use island/beach elements! Now I have your card to refer to! Thank you for sharing your talents!!!

ReplyDeleteI did wonder if it was CR when you talked about the weekly challenge in your previous posts! I participate there too, but I did skip submitting a card last week. Looking forward to tonight's episode! Love the matchbook card you made, partlcularly the way you worked in the 'key' parameter! Beautiful card!
