Peek a BOO ... I'm watching YOU!

Day 2 of my GIU week...  and I can't help but reminisce a bit...

The minute I saw this stamp, I KNEW I needed it...after all, it so reminds me of my beautiful state of Washington, a popular habitat for Bigfoot to reside in.  We know the stories, we've heard lots of them growing up.  I remember as a small child, traveling over to the "West Side", Everett, WA, .... while headed over the Cascade Mountain pass to visit my Grandma and Grandpa...I'd peek into the thick forest terrain, as we drove past...and pretend to see glimpses of Bigfoot...

The stories and theories of Bigfoot, have been part of our family and friends conversations for a lifetime.  In college, one of those late night brainstorming topics (you know the ones...where we were so philosophical ... and solving all the mysteries of the world after a late night of shenanigans) ... we were convinced that Bigfoot may actually be members of society who decided to survive in the depths of the Puget Sound forests...

Oh to be young again, chillin' with my friends.  My dear friend, Mike, we solved SO many mysteries during those hanging out times... I remember those Bigfoot theory talks.  He deserves to be mentioned in this blog post... We believed...  and... I still do believe...you just have to BELIEVE!!!!!

On to the card DEETS!  So much reminiscing going on up to now!  Oops on that!

This card, was super easy to make...I decided a "less is more" approach was the best way to use this stamp.  If you are a Pacific NW paper crafter ... it's a MUST you check out the yummy designer paper I used on this card:

Sasquatch Sightings Paper Pack :  I LOVE this paper, and will probably buy another.  I took the risk of stamping on the paper...and have zero regrets doing so.  I made my moon by taking a circle die cut and gently ink blended around the edges of it.  I picked a pattern that allowed a "moon" space.  I then stamped my Bigfoot to have the moon as a background to him.  In the same color of my "masked" "moon" (I used a distressed oxide to do this) I then stamped down the sides of my patterned paper a sentiment repeatedly selected out of the Snarky Man of the Woods sentiment set.  To finish off my card front, I found a random pine tree stamp in my 30 years of stamp collecting... to add a few more trees.  I "half treed" mainly, and I "stamped off" after my first stamp (randomly) to give it a look of depth of the forest.  A lot will depend on your patterned paper.  If you do not use a patterned paper, you can make your own with ink blending, and random tree stamping.  It's a fun and easy way to make a quick card.  Word of caution...this patterned paper does have a finish to it.  I'd hate to suggest you sacrifice a piece of paper, but, you may want to snip off a piece and be sure your ink will dry adequately.  I found a die ink works better, my Versafine Clair left a sticky feeling to it (although it dried without smearing)...my dye ink was fine, and the distressed oxide ink dried very well.  A great "swatch" of paper could be the actual packaging label, which shows a little of each design on it, found inside the paper pack, then, you won't need to cut into a full piece.

The insides of the card... pretty self explanatory... these came together so quickly I made a couple of options to share...  Oh how I love this paper!!!

Last remarks here...I KNOW this has been a long post...probably longer to write than making the card...

1.  I think this would have been a perfect stamp selection for one of the Craft Roulette challenges:

...  (Episode 304, Go Wild Parameter) ...

2.   My Bigfoot partner conspiracy theorist, sadly was taken from this earth untimely as an act of a violent crime.  I hesitated even mentioning him, but the strong memories of the many conversations we had kept telling me, in honor of our friendship, I needed to.  I was possibly the last person to see him on campus after taking a final with him right after our freshman year of college (last final on campus!).  Most of our sorority sisters and frat brothers had already left, it truly felt like the town had shut down.  I didn't realize when we had hugged each other goodbye, it would be our last goodbye, nor did I realize the impact of losing that friendship, I know, we'd still be in touch to this day, and I know he'd being doing great things by now, his goals were high.  RIP, Mike, I have to tell you, the last time we drove over Snoqualamie, I think I saw a glimpse some big furry human shaped thing inside the forest!  (heart tugs)

3.   LEAVE A COMMENT!!!  I will be randomly choosing 2 out of the comments this week left here, my instagram, and facebook page postings ... I'd love to see activity on my insta page and facebook too, so if you comment more than once...more chances...  :)  If you have sighted Bigfoot and want to share...I'd love to hear that too...maybe even one extra bonus chance to win!
